Fairly good organic bar, with a basic flavour and no ‘bad’ notes. Good value for money; probably made by a large Belgian chocolate manufacturer.

This chocolate looks good, with a red/brown colour and red flecks and a good grain. It’s possible though that this redness comes from the unusual addition of defatted cocoa powder, which also gives the chocolate a sandy mouth feel.
Aroma is leather, tobacco and sweet, snap is quite soft. The melt is easy and pleasant, though the flavour is straightforward chocolate with some ‘candy’ overtones and faint notes of peach and egg. There is hardly any of the ‘earth’ note that is typical – and off-putting – in most organics. The finish is creamy, strong cappuccino and the length is straight if bitter.
This is a good basic organic chocolate, and stronger than some other supermarket brands. ‘Belgian’ almost certainly means it’s made for Waitrose by one of the big industrial Belgian food companies.
