Chocolate Week 2007

September 25, 2007

On the olive trail – olive oil, balsamic and chocolate truffles

£35 per person – includes box of olive oil chocolates to take away
7.30pm-9.30pm, Mon 15 Oct 2007, Theodore Lounge & Kitchen,
Theodore Bullfrog, 28 John Adam Street, Charing Cross, London, WC2N 6HL

Olive oil and chocolate might sound like an unlikely combination, but since we introduced olive oil aficionados The Olive Trail to chocolatier Damian Allsop, we’ve found out that nothing could be further from the case! Damian has created some fantastic olive oil and water based ganaches using freshly harvested olive oil.

We’ll be sampling these excellent chocolates – normally only available served to diners in top London restaurants – along with Olive Trail ‘Black gold’ aged balsamics, which create new and interesting flavour combinations with chocolate.

Olive Trail founder Michael North will guide us through how to taste and appreciate olive oil and explain why olive oil is best appreciated fresh.(Most olive oil can be up to two years old when it reaches the shelves, losing a lot of its flavour and health benefits.)

This will be a unique event about two food plants – cacao and olives – where the source and quality of the ingredients used can have a huge effect on the end result of the finished product. We’re very happy to have found The Olive Trail, who feel the same way about olive oil as Seventypercent does about fine chocolate – only the best is good enough!

The ticket price of this event includes an exclusive box of olive oil chocolates and special balsamic to take away – not available for sale in any shops!
