Chocolate and cheese matching with La Cave à Fromage

£35 per person, 7.00pm-9.00pm, Fri 16 Oct 2009
La Cave à Fromage 24-25 Cromwell Place Kensington London SW7 2LD

cheese_trolly_crAt first seemingly odd bedfellows, the range of possible combinations and flavours from fine cheese and chocolate make for fascinating, at times challenging, but often sublime results. In this joint event with London cheese shop La Cave à Fromage, we take chocolate matching to another level by pairing fine chocolate and artisanal farmhouse cheese, with a little wine thrown in for good measure.

When we first sat down with Todd Bridge of La Cave à Fromage, we had a good idea that chocolate and cheese would work together – from our previous small experience with fine chocolate fountain dips and chocolate tapas. We weren’t prepared though for some of the stunning results as we paired cheeses from soft ripe brandy-washed Époisses to hard mature Abbaye de Belloc with chocolate ranging from Amano Montanya to Willie Harcoot-Cooze’s 70% Peru.

The tasting will be held in the foodie-heaven surroundings of La Cave’s South Kensington shop. We’ll think you’ll love the unusual combinations of cheese and chocolate, but even if they don’t all hit, you’ll enjoy some great fine chocolate and have the chance to discover some sublime farmhouse cheeses.
