On this point I would like to disagree, as the venerable Cacao Sampaka of Spain has a piece in its Spices of America box that is flavoured with saffron, and personally I find it to taste absolutely outstanding. When returning there this summer I actually bought a box full of just the saffron piece :-)

It’s not challenging, it doesn’t tell us anything of the human condition, it doesn’t enlighten us.
You are correct – not all common beliefs can be rejected simply because they are commonly-held. That’s just elitism for it’s own sake. They can be and should be challenged, re-evaluated, looked at sideways and occasionally deflated.
Anyway, I shouldn’t judge as I wasn’t there and know nothing of the guy’s work but thanks for the reviews and comments which I found entertaining and thought-provoking.
