We are pleased to announce the sixth annual UK Chocolatiers Conference, is going to be held on Monday 12th July at Westminster Kingsway College, Vincent Square, London SW1.

At this year's premier networking event for artisan chocolatiers, which will be supported by HB Ingredients, we have some incredible speakers including:

- Fritz Knipschildt who is on the short list of America’s great chocolatiers and uses unusual shapes, strong flavour combinations and exquisite packaging to create different & highly enjoyable chocolate aesthetics. Probably the most intriguing product that Knipschildt Chocolatier sells is its famed $250 dark chocolate truffle. Knipschildt recently expanded his chocolate success by opening Chocopologie, a new concept cafe and retail store.

- Miguel Escurell from Xocoa-BCN whose family has been in the patisserie business for 100 years. However ten years ago, the two brothers, Marc and Miguel, branched out into chocolate, employed top graphic artists to design their packaging and unveiled some novel ideas such as chocolate candles, a CD for chocolate lovers and a range of funkily wrapped bars flavoured with Jamaican pimento, tiramisu, green tea, lemon verbena, yoghurt and raspberry.

- Business consultant Mark Grant from Roadmap Business Consultants. Mark spent 29 years in retailing and manufacturing with blue-chip and niche companies in the UK and USA, including Marks & Spencer, Moss Bros Group and Brooks Brothers. He has a long track record of building teams and improving processes, resulting in greater efficiency and increased profit generation.

- Top chocolatier & pastry chef Damian Allsop from Damian Allsop Chocolates, of whom it was said he is "the Merlin of the chocolate world, coaxing flavours out of chocolate that you never thought possible"

- David Brealey who spent 13 years at Thorntons PLC in manufacturing and New Product Development and more recently joined HB Ingredients in Technical Sales.

The conference will also include an informal networking event the night before and this year we will be organising an improved mutual 'blind' chocolate tasting session to enable you to have your chocolates by your fellow chocolatiers.

Don't miss this superb opportunity to be inspired.

Tickets cost £135 + VAT per person (£158.63 inc VAT) and are inclusive of lunch & refreshments and pre-conference network event.

Please note, that this rate only applies where one booking at the full rate has been received.

BOOK YOUR PLACE NOW by clicking on the link below, or call Sally on 020 8450 1523

Hi Everyone

It is that time of the year again and we've just finalised the programme for this year's UK Chocolatiers Conference which is going to be held on Monday 20th July at Westminster Kingsway College, Vincent Square, London SW1.

Although we had some amazing sessions at last year's conference like Jacek Sikora from Chocoffee, we hope to continue our mission to inspire, educate & motivate with an excellent programme of speakers.

This year world famous Bart Van Cauwenberghe, Belgian Chocolate Ambassador and chocolate flavour wizard will be demonstrating his outstanding expertise and revealing how he competes in what must be the most crowded chocolate market in the world.

We are also extremely lucky to have founder member of the Academy of Chocolate, Chantal Coady who started Rococo Chocolates 25 years ago and will be talking about her life in chocolate and the trials & tribulations of being a chocolate retailer.

On the marketing front, visual merchandising expert Alan Springall will show how merchandising, skillfully executed, can give the consumer confidence in their decision making and communicate the aspirational image essential for selling quality hand-made chocolates.

Giles Speid from Westminster Trading Standards will be back looking at the latest legislation to affect chocolatiers. He will also tackle any particular areas of concern or confusion.

Top chocolatier & pastry chef Damian Allsop from Damian Allsop Chocolates will have some fresh chocolate making ideas and will be demonstrating how to make marshmallows suitable not just for children, but also for adults.

As last year, we will be holding an informal networking event the night before the conference and for the first time, by popular request, we will be organising a mutual 'blind' chocolate tasting session - so you can have your chocolates 'rated' by your fellow chocolatiers.

Finally, we are planning special 'Innovation' spots where you will be able to see mini presentations of some of the latest innovations in the world of chocolate & chocolate making.

Don't miss this superb opportunity to be inspired.

Tickets cost £135 + VAT per person (£158.63 inc VAT) and are inclusive of lunch & refreshments and pre-conference network event.

Book now by calling 020 8450 1523 or book online by clicking here:

Dear Forum Members,

The 2009 Academy of Chocolate Awards are being judged very soon in London and the Academy is looking for computer-literate volunteers with some level of chocolate knowledge who can help out with electronic note taking during the judging.

The volunteers would be required to sit in on one of the judging tables and use a laptop to enter scores for each product as they are judged, and to record brief feedback on each of the products, as directed by the table's head judge.

The judging takes place between 2-6pm in central London on 22 & 23 Jan 2009 for filled chocolates and 29 & 30 Jan for all bars. Volunteers would need to be available between 1-7pm to allow for preparation and the judging going over the allotted time.

Ideally volunteers would be available for every session, but this is not essential. One or more days would be acceptable. Volunteers who are selected to help will receive an invite to the gala Awards presentation night (date still to be announced).

If you are interested, please email awards2009@academyofchocolate.org.uk with your details and availability. Please include basic CV details - your age, computer skills and chocolate knowledge.
