People don't think twice about spending 15 Euro on an everyday wine, a bottle of olive oil or balsamic vinegar etc.- surely 5 - 10 Euro for a very fine chocolate is not a huge expense ? 25 Euro is a different story perhaps. We certainly won't sell anything in the shop that we haven't tasted, but looking forward to your trip to the tasting ! you'll save a fortune.

The fact that the saleslady couldn't account for the quality disturbs me. I'm also all but attracted to the idea of buying expensive chocolate from anyone else than respected chocolatiers - and this is even beyond expensive. Seems like you're supposed to buy decorating items for your home - or an image of being rich, successful etc. Sounds like vanity more than anything else to me.

has anyone heard of CULTI chocolate? went by the local posh and snob delicatessen here yesterday and they have it on display. nice copper-brown boxes(!) and even real glasses for some stuff.
the saleslady told me CULTI is a high-end italian furniture maker and they've decided to diversify for whatever reason. (i could almost taste the chocolatey brown varnish in my mind). the chocolate is made by someone else, she didn't know who. they've got milk and dark but state no percentage (nor even ingredients as far as i could see).

now for the real shocker: it's only 25 eur for a 100g square! yes: 25!nice and cheap, eh? can't imagine what might taste so good to justify the price. i asked whether the packaging was reason for the price ;-)
unfortunately, the saleslady couldn't tell me more; she hadn't tried any yet (at that price, no wonder!). but within the next two weeks there will be a tasting which i intend to attend.

does anyone know more?
