Well, as far as I understood, the packages contain the chocolate along with the fruit, nuts, or coffee. Kind of like a trail mix. At least that's what I got out of the descriptions on the site that you posted. Plus, you can see the nuts and dried fruit along with the chocolate in the pictures. So I guess you could pick out the chocolate bits. Anyway, I think I'll order one of those 12 oz. bags from the site that I posted. It will come out to eighteen bucks, so I hope this poor college kid likes it! Hah!

I have been curious about Yachana chocolate too - the flavour combinations sound interesting ... though I would like a chance to sample just the chocolate of course, without any additional ingredients like nuts, fruit or coffee.

Their chocolate undergoes very little processing with none of the hours of grinding and conching that go into making fine chocolate. I think it would be closer to traditional South American methods, like the rough chocolate balls used in Mexico to make drinking chocolate. Some sweetening is provided from the sugar cane juice, so I think it will be strong but not unbearable. I've not tried any, but I have tried similar products, which if not exactly what I'd call chocolate are still worth trying.

They are an interesting company based in Ecuador with an emphasis on ecological and social issues, and their chocolate is fairly traded. You can find out more at their website at http://www.yachanagourmet.com.

Jungle Chocolate, you ask? Well so do I! Is anybody familiar with this stuff. I'm tempted to try it, but I'm not sure exactly what it is. It seems to be flavored cocoa nibs, but, again, I'm not sure. I have my eye on the Macadamia Nut one. Hmm.
