See it's not really fair, because while I like chocolate better and eat it much more often, if I had to choose between chocolate and EVERYTHING that could be made out of it (truffles, cakes, non-pure bars etc) then I might have to go with the 'everything else' for the variety...

I just like chocolate - I'll take it in all forms!! If I have the choice of three, I would take confections - its hard to beat a good truffle that just melts in the mouth or a bon bon center which just compliments the chocolate properly.

If the choice if just between chocolate or desserts then I think I would take plain chocolate most of the time (60-70%) and desserts the rest.

Well for me, if I could only have either chocolate bars or chocolate desserts for the rest of my life, I would have to go with pure chocolate.

If we add in a third category of chocolate confections it would become a more difficult choice but in the end I'd still have to choose pure chocolate. Sometimes nothing else will quite hit the spot the same way. I do however enjoy truffles and ganaches immensely on occasion but they are too rich for daily eating.

Why do we have to make the choice again? I don't want to have to give any of them up! :( sob sob

No contest. Pure chocolate.

However, there is I think a third category you've not included: the person who prefers their chocolate in confections (truffles, boxed chocolates and the like), as opposed to desserts. Maybe we should have a 3-way choice. Wouldn't change my decision, but there might be others who'd be motivated to respond.
