Don't feel too old, alex. I didn't specify the +s after 27 ... You're still the oldest though (it seems), but not the only one passed 30 ;-)

Have a nice trip to Lofoten, Polar. It's lovely there. They've even got great coffee bars in tiny Svolvaer.

I also prefer not to say too much in public - no blog for me, that's for sure! - but I'll give the basics.

I'm a 27 year old software engineer at Sun Microsystems, enjoying life in San Francisco. My interests are good food of all kinds, chocolate of course, music (mainly classical, some jazz), computers, current events, and big cities (Jane Jacobs changed my life).

I got my love of chocolate from my parents. I remember doing a family chocolate tasting when I was probably just ten years old. (I think Lindt was the winner, but we didn't have much to choose from.) My interest has been driven recently by making truffles as an occasional hobby, which is my crazy idea for a second career if I get tired of computers, and by occasional exposure to new chocolate bars. I haven't been doing much truffle making this year, as I'm just starting to get over the burnout from making too many last Christmas, so I've been learning about and trying lots of new bars. And, of course, that led me here.

27++ years old, sociologist in spe. Hobbies are chocolate (!) + culture (literature, classical music, theatre, photography, architecture), big cities & remote places, learning German.

Got into chocolate when living in Vienna last year. Had tried Valrhona before that, got hooked after tasting various Slitti bars. Luckily hit this place when searching for new brands. Never been in doubt this site is unbeatable!

There's more to tell - I'm just reluctant to post too much personal info on an open web page - try chat or mail!

ok:

34 year old techwriter/translator. i write manuals for smart card software.

my free time consists primarily of yoga, tango argentino, photography, biking, hiking and movies.

love to dance, travel and learn languages.

chocolate history: beginning of the 90's heard about valrhona being the best chocolate in the world. tried their milk chocolate then and wasn't impressed. boy was it hard to find valrhona back in those days! slowly drifted off to darker things (i am a very curious person and when i first saw cluizel's 99% i had to try it; still don't like it ;-). then found this site! a godsend! ...and the rest is history ;-)

Weeeellllllllllllll..........

I am a 23-year-old (almost 24) student (still!!!) pursuing a Master's degree in forensics and osteology at New Mexico State University; perhaps a doctorate will soon follow.

other interests: heavy metal, history, anthropology, ancient civilaztions, cooking, baking, food, and a lot of other things...

got into dark chocolate: I got a craving for chocolate one day and just decided to surf the web to see what kind of delicious morsels were available; I eventually found out the difference between Godiva and Cluizel, and the rest is history (polar, I didn't realize that your ending statement was "...and the rest is history" as well, but because I just noticed it, and to prove that perhaps great minds think alike, I will leave mine) [:D]

Another fun questin - who are we, the people behind the nicknames?
It would be cool to see if there are some similarities between us chocoholics.

Here's me:

PhD-student (stipendiate, which means I get paid to do a PhD) in structural geology at the Multiversity in Tromsø, Norway. [:)]
Age: approaching twenty-ten a bit too fast.[:(!]
Other interests: Mountaineering, politics. philosophy.[8D]
Got into dark choc: It started during my field work for my MSs thesis: My field assistant was allergic to milk, so we ate baking chocolate instead. Then ball started rolling, I tried darker chocolate occasionally, and got hooked. The rest is history...[:p]
