Many times with expensive market reports at web sites such as those, they will provide a web preview of at least the Table of Contents, and often you can see high level numbers or facts included in the bullet item or ToC entry.

I'd do a web search under the terms "market study" and "chocolate" or "global market report" and "cacao" or "cocoa" or some combination of the above, and be sure to view several pages past the first page. I'd be surprised if you didn't turn up such a report at one of the larger market research company web sites.

Maybe this could be used as an estimate:

quote:

The world cocoa market distinguishes between two broad categories of cocoa beans: "fine or flavour" cocoa beans, and "bulk" or "ordinary" cocoa beans.

According to ICCO the market share of fine or flavour cocoa is 4%.
You might want to check http://www.worldcocoafoundation.org as well.

The University of the West Indies on Trinidad has a lot of info on cacao, and the have a Cacao Research Unit with websites. If you google on that, I think you will find it.
