I always order more then 5 polycarb molds, but never saw an option for quantity discount on the sites I visit.
That opens anther thread: Does anybody who orders moulds in the US know of places that offer quantities discount? Thanks.

I've tried silicon moulds and apart from the lack of shine I find them a nightmare to clean, and also because they are floppy, harder to work with (I find it much easier using a rigid polycarb mould - hold with one hand, fill with the other.

If you are just doing hobby/trying shapes then the cheap 'hobby moulds' you can pick up for 2-5 pounds (3-7 dollars?), as they do have the shine and will last for a while. I also buy my polycarb moulds in packs of 5 so get them cheaper (keylink in the uk sells them for 50 pounds for 5 moulds), I wonder if there is an American or Canadian equivalent?

We only use them for our caramel centers. We pipe the caramel into the mold, throw it in the fridge and then pop out the centers and enrobe them.

Caramel is particularly sticky, and while the silicone molds release very well, we still use a light coating of pan spray so as to not stress the mold too much on release.

I've never used silicone for an exterior product, only because the surface texture of the final product isn't as smooth as from a polycarbonate mold.
