I have a few questions regarding packaging. I’m currently packaging my chocolates in candy boxes purchased at Michaels, but i want to “up” the packaging and reduce my expense. Do you know any places that provide candy packaging boxes, with the trays, and dividers?
I’ve looked at a couple of vendors but they were very verry sloppy with the way they sent out the samples (eg. Nashville wraps and sugarcraft). Surely, they did not entice me to place an order with them. Please let me know for any advice.

i got mine from http://www.aspecialtybox.com it’s good for just starting out. I ordered from them last holiday season and it worked for me.

Another good source is Mod-Pack (http://www.modpac.com/). The have a very large selection of stock packaging. Boxes are sold in pieces (i.e. the bottom, top, tray, pad are all separate).
When we had our business, we used them their square red brocade boxes. You can see some pictures on our website: http://www.psiloveyouchocolates.com/catalog/ProductList.aspx?category=All
You have to buy in bulk to get a really good deal. I think we paid about $600 for about 1000 complete units, or about 60 cents per box.

Thank you Rena and Patrick for your responses. I really like the selections on the aspecialty’s websites. And may order some stuff from them. Do you by any chance know if they provide samples? If not, it’s ok, i’ll call them on monday. As for the modpack.com, i’m a little hesitant because they seem to tailor their business around bigger companies. Even though, they say they do smaller business. I’m afraid it’s still out of my league for budget purposes.

Yes. Modpac can be a bit harsh on your budget. However I started figuring out about a year into our business that I was spending more money on small shippments of packaging supplies (boxes, bags, ribbon, etc) to make buying in bulk the only way to turn a proffit.
So I would suggest building up a spreadsheet that can tell you at what point you need to go bulk.

Patrick,
I completely agree with you. I’m quickly learning that the packaging aspect of the business is brutal both on the wallet and the body! I think that’s a great idea about the spreadsheet. I’m quickly learning that my current method of running to michaels is no longer going to work. as soon as i see an increase in sales, i’ll definitely switch vendors.
