IMHO, as a general rule, somewhere between about 10 and 20 g for the rolled-cocoa variety - about the size of a smallish mushroom truffle. You'll find some that are truly silly - the size of an ice-cream scoop, but I think this defeats the purpose. A truffle should be small enough that the entire piece can dissolve in the mouth. But I also dislike really dainty truffles, which you see too. The problem there is that there isn't enough to get any real intensity.
If you're thinking of hard-shelled, chocolate confectionery pieces (what I call simply "chocolates"), they should be smaller, perhaps 5-10 g, preferentially towards the larger side of that range.
Neither type should be so big as to require or even justify 2 bites - they should be appropriate for eating as a single whole piece.

When I make truffles I start out with the weight range of 8 - 10 grams. Once the truffle is dipped it will weigh 2 grams more. Even my moulded chocolates I use the 10 gram moulds. A ganache or buttercream can become very decadent and this amount can be satisfying to the palate and belly! Too much is overkill. Thats my opinion!
