Amedei are considered one of the finest chocolate producers in the world and are a significant contributor to the recent rise of Italian fine chocolate. They keep their six country origin chocolates rather exclusive by only producing them as 5g tasting squares, which available only in mixed gift collections, or in this new ‘Mono Cru’ format of 4 squares in one packet.

We’ve been lobbying them for some years to produce even a small size bar of the Cru range, but so far with no luck.

The Caribbean Crus seems to be the most successful and have the best balance of flavours. In the case of Jamaica, there are hints of extra virgin olive oil, cashews and must, along with a high perfume. When combined with Amedei’s well refined texture the result is very sweet and palatable

Any hints from them as to why the choice of format remains fixed? Supply limitations? Manufacturing set-up? Yeah, I think we’d all like to see them in those 50g bars.
