We were aiming for a Caribbean slant to this month’s selection in honour of the Cricket World Cup currently taking place in the West Indies. Circumstances were against us though, and we’ve ended with two chocolates that while they might geographically qualify as Caribbean, only one of them has a genuine cricketing pedigree.
Still, Venezuela is well known for the quality of its cacao, even if Venezuelan's probably wouldn’t have a clue what to do with a cricket bat or why you would need to leave the park if your leg got in front of your middle stump.
Our second chocolate is named after the capital of Venezuela and a famous bean variety, but strangely features no beans from the region.
Our final chocolate does have some cricketing pedigree – coming from the home of famous West Indian heroes Michael Holding, Courtney Walsh and Frank Worrell. I’m not sure though whether Italian fine chocolate maker Amedei would have had these cricketers in mind when they created their Jamaica.
All being well, next month we’ll feature some chocolate from new US bean to bar maker Amano, and I promise to try and avoid any further sporting references.

Apologies to everyone for posting 3 month's worth of bars at the same time.
