Oh, alright, I’ll try to get excited about London Choc Week, but I just feel I’ve done London – after three trips already is it worth it? Do you think the likes of Harrods, Self’s, Harvey’s, Fortnum will have a more extensive range of the dark stuff? Or will the “week” probably not register on their radar? I’m afraid it all sounds a bit sugary for me. BUT, I knew nothing of Marcolini and WILL visit for the 85% – on my way to Paris!
Anyone have any suggestions for chocolate shopping in Paris? But, I guess anyone who’s anyone will be at the show, so no need to go outside! But I just need to know who are the Paris equivalent to Godiva, ie who to stay clear of!
I think this “Salon” event was called “Marché aux chocolats” in 2003, anyone have any info, I only got these dates by emailing from [url]http://www.franceguide.com[/url].

Well the theme of London Chocolate Week is ‘real’ chocolate, so there will be some good stuff around. Definitely the Marcolini bars, but also Rococo have an interesting range (I’m reviewing some right now) and L’artisan may have some, I have to check.

I was also hoping to go to Paris – but they’ve got my passport – wahhhhhhhh!!! Here’s the official site – http://www.chocoland.com. The same people also run the New York chocolate show (www.chocolateshow.com).

The good news is that there will be a UK chocolate show 16 – 18 January 2004. Not many details at http://www.thechocolateshow.co.uk yet, but it will be announced fully during London Chocolate Week. These are big steps forward for the UK and seventypercent hopes to be involved as much as possible.

You know, you can always tell quality by ingredients. Even if a company’s dark bar seems ok, when you check out their other products you will so see what they use – as soon as you start to see ‘flavouring’ or ‘E’ numbers, walk away.

I wish a good chocolate show would come around here. The closest thing to a show coming is The Chocolate Exhibition, which is still some distance. This is more of an educational thing than a tasting show. They do have a lot of high end chocolate with them, but nothing to the extent of the shows that you listed, Martin. I would like to make a trip to Europe soon, though. I work and study hard, I think I owe it to myself!

Well I’m sure a private chocolate tour can be arranged! Also there may be some organised tours next year from the US for London Chocolate Week.

Will you go to the exhibition? I’ve seen the web site and it looks interesting – a report would be welcome.

The Chocolate Show in New York in November is something worth attending. Go to http://www.chocolateshow.com to find out more information. I am planning to go, but with the recent hurricane, I’m not so sure anymore. You might want to check your local area to see if any chocolatiers exist. I found one here that produces good quality chocolates that I also plan on visiting.

Well, Saying that the exhibition will be some distance from me is an understament. It’s about eight hours away. I would love to go, but I’m not willing to make the drive. Then again it won’t be coming for another year or two, so maybe.

Well, I do know of some chocolatiers around here. I’ve never tried any because I don’t feel like paying such high prices for little dainty chocolate pieces. Can good chocolates be as interesting as some of these good bars? I know that they’re made of good quality bars, but does the additional ingredients take away from the original flavor?
