I’m not sure about the most prestigious events. I think Chocolate Show in New York is the most important event, more important than Saloon du Chocolat in Paris. The annual World Choclate Awards might be a candidate for the most prestigious awards. Read more about the first ever World Choclate Awards 2005:

Thank you for the answer. As far as I know the World Choclate Awards was organised in 2005 for the first time. But I am interested in older events, which take place from year to year for a long time.
What about Belgian chocolate awards? Can you give me a link where I can look up for the information?
What about Swiss? Are there any chocolate events in Swiss?

….the ‘annual world chocolate awards’ cannot be seriously considered as the most prestigious…certainly not yet anyway. I realise that the founders of this site are heavily involved in the above mentioned but there are a host of international events which are much more prestigious…certainly at a professional level.

You might be right so please give us a list of more prestigious international events.

I can’t argue with confiseur … still early days for the Academy of Chocolate, and for the UK as far as fine chocolate goes.

….thank you Martin, my already high estimation of you has gone up a notch….
To be honest probably the most prestigious event at present solely concerned with chocolate is ‘The World Chocolate Masters’ event organised and sponsored by the much loved Callebaut company…. http://www.worldchocolatemasters.com
This is however geared to the serious practicing professional chocolate craftsman and is probably not so valid for career-changers or the enthusiastic amateur.
The other major chocolate companys also sponsor and organise a myriad of awards but they again are concerned mainly with top Patissiers/Confectioners/Chocolatier for whome chocolate, though very important is ‘only’ one discipline.
