Hi! I wonder if anyone knows whether cocoa beans can be exported internationally, and if so, by whom? I would assume a multitude of problems, due to the agricultural laws… Does anyone know about this? Here wecannot get any, or at least, so it seems!
Thanks!

Yes. Companies such as Cargill, Toshoku, Mitsubishi, ED&F Mann, etc do it all the time

Well, thank you very much! I found Cargill and contacted them. I think I found the place to contact in Mitsubishi… I will see if I get a response! The others I could not find. ED&Mann only comes up with articles about who they were bought by in Canada (ADM)??? Do you perhaps have any details? Also, do you know if they just send to private, small businesses like me??! Sorry for the bombardment of questions.
Thanks once again!

Toshoku is owned by Cargill. So that’s probably why you didn’t find them right away.

Archer Daniels Midland. One of the largest agri-businesses in the cocoa trade. Their website is http://www.admworld.com.

All of these companies are giant multinationals so it’s unlikely you’ll be able to attract much of their attention but it’s worth seeing what they’re ready to do. It can’t hurt to ask at any rate.

Ilana, I have bought nibs from Tava before and had no problems at all. I thnk it would be your best bet if you’re buying small lots at a retail level – you can buy over their website.
