OfflineHello. Does anyone have any contacts/knowledge about fair trade, organic beans in Ecuador? I’ve already spent a lot of time on Galapagos, doing conservation/community work, and am headed back there next month until June… In addition, I’m starting work for a UK chocolatier in 2008, and one of the things I want to try to do in Ecuador is find out more about possible sources of good quality organic beans with an eye to creating an Ecuadorian bar through the business. So, any ideas, anyone?! Thanks in advance [:X]

If you’d like, I can probably get you in touch with Joe Whinney, founder of Theo Chocolate. Theo sources organic fair trade from Ecuador so I’m certain he will have both the contacts and the expertise. Joe has been a cocoa broker as well so he’s pretty well-versed with the trade side of the business.

OfflineThat would be wonderful, yes. I won’t be on the mainland very long at all, so it would be ideal to be able to get in touch with someone who already knows a lot about the business in Ecuador. Thank you very, very much! (My email is samantha (dot) holland (at) yahoo (dot) com.)
