i just checked domori's website and they've got all the new stuff there now.
in addition to what i mentioned above...
- the blacksal bar with 75% cocoa content and salt is new (black line)
- the ecuador bar with 70% is new (style line)
- the puro bar is a new blend of six cru (black line)
- blacksal and the vanilla bar replace gem and green in the black line

i haven't tried ecuador, blacksal or the new puro, but if they are as good as the other new stuff i'm a happy man ,)

Wouldn't surprise me. Domori's lines have more changes than a baby with diapers.

Tasted (or munched) some BlackSal and Vanilla yesterday, both really nice! (I have never tried any chocolate with salt in before, but blacksal convinced me it's not as strange as it sounds...)

hi greenie,

long time no see. yes, chocolate with salt is not as bad as it sounds. i am a big fan. tried blacksal again and this time around it's very nice.
but i still like domori's 80% bars in the san jose boxes best.

Bought and tried the Sambirano 100% today. I always wondered whether the extremely fruity notes of the Sambirano would be noticeable when making a 100% of it. After trying this bar I can say: Yes, they do!
Domori 100%’s are really great, but of course not an everyday chocolate. But this Sambirano is really great. If you would tell me it has a much lower cacao content I would believe so. It still has a brown colour, not black as bars from other companies. Until now the “sweetest” 100% I tried was the 100% Canoabo. But this specific Samibrano Lot is even better. I’m really enthusiastic about this one. For a long time it’s the first Domori bar which really impresses me. Perhaps I should start rediscovering Domori. I guess I will start with the other new 100% bars and the BlackSal (sounds really good, but not jet available in stores near to me (but I can wait… [:p] )).

This may already be common knowledge, but I was just browsing the Domori website and noticed a whole raft of new things. Aside from the fairly boring sounding Blend No. 0 (65%, mild), there are new additions to the Chateau and Quantum ranges:

Javablond 70% cocoa mass (25g)

Javablond is a criollo-type cacao from East Java. Many centuries ago, a light-colored criollo cacao with a good acidity, and that was easily separated from its shell, was cultivated on the island of Java. Then a volcanic eruption devastated the plantations and forastero-type cacao was planted alongside what remained of the criollo cacao. From this mix a trinitario-type cacao was born.
One third of the island’s crop has 50% light-colored beans and therefore is classified as criollo. This cacao is unique because of its notes of tobacco, berries, smokiness and earthiness. It is spicy with an excellent smoothness, long finish and marked sweetness.

Madagared 70% cocoa mass (25g)

Madagared is a criollo-type cacao from Madagascar. From the many trinitario-type plantations we selected these criollo cacao pods with completely white cacao beans and have processed them separately. The final result exalts the quality organoleptic traits: honey, almonds, berries, caramel and cream. It is slightly tangy and outstandingly
smooth with a fine sweetness and particularly long finish.

Teyuna (500g)
Dark chocolate - 70% cocoa mass
Trinitario-type cacao from Santa Marta, Colombia with notes of cashew and honey. It has significant smoothness, sweetness and little astringency.

Papuandar (500g)
Dark chocolate - 70% cocoa mass
Trinitario-type cacao from Papua New Guinea with hints of berry and tobacco. Spicy and slightly smoky. It has little astringency, a medium smoothness and sweetness and a pleasant sourness.

They really seem to be branching out geographically. Has anyone tried any of these? Reviews to come?

Look what they have done to the Hacienda San José boxes!! No more Red and black line (but Blend line), no longer Quantum Sambirano and Rio Caribe, reduced dragees. Very disturbing. Looks like a revision of the rage, doesn’t it?
But, at least, the new chocolates are interesting. Let’s see…

hmm, i actually like the direction domori is taking reducing their range. as long as quality is still top notch that is.
what i don't like is seeing all the new stuff on their website months before it hits the stores. but hopefully soon...
any news on domori and their merger with illy?

Finally! I have bought a Blend No. 0 and a Javablond today (the Madagared was not available).
The Blend No. 0 is really good! Very mild, reminds me a little bit of a high cacao content milk chocolate. Very delicate.
I would compare the Javablond to the Indonésie from Pralus. Very similar notes. But the Javablond is a little bit stronger and has the Domori smoothness.

so, the new bars are slowly appearing in stores though not yet up on domori.com. and they carry illy's insignia on the back. not much has changed as far as contents go, but packaging has a strong illy touch. the only thing left with a distinct domori look is the style line. it's all a bit faceless if you ask me, but the taste is still domori. some silly additions include a 500g quantum block with a wooden board and chocolate carving knife.

New site is now up. I recently went to Italy, picked up the 100%, IlBlend, Teyuna. As you say, little changed in flavour, all superb. I'll put up a review soon for Teyuna, a real winner.

Disappointingly, they seem to have discontinued what had been the other big winner of the "Cru", now called "Linea Single Origins" line, the Carenero Superior. Bad harvest? I get the feeling Domori adjust what they produce according to the beans that they can get that meet some standard. No company has been more active at releasing and discontinuing different chocolates with time.

I like the new packaging - stylish enough, with a nod to the original Domori package (the old square ones of years ago, not the more recent Cru rectangular boxes). However, they didn't get rid of the plastic inner wrapper. [:(] As you say, though, Illy influenced as well.

It's that time of year again: Domori's new bars are hitting the shops. They've expanded their Linea Criollo and it now includes Canoabo! That means you don't have to buy a big expensive box to get to this fantastic chocolate. Aaaaand they now have a bar in the same line called Chuao!! It's not from Chuao, but is grown at Hacienda San Jose... I asked Gianluca Franzoni about this and he replied that it is a bean type and not region-specific. Hmm. Well, I wonder what it tastes like in any case.
The other new bars are either white (with mint) or milk (from Tyrolean Grey Cows (see also Tiroler Edle chocolate)) and they've revived their Barrique if with somewhat different spices. I wish they'd revive Green.
The Quantum range has also grown and now also comprises a slab with almonds (or is it almond paste?) and one with hazelnuts. Their cacao powder is back and so is the Chacao (previously Kamba) energy bar range (it's now a bit larger, the range not the bars).
Let's see when they finally come up with a Guasare. Recently Swiss chocolate makers Idilio have produced a Guasare bar, the first I've heard of.
