It is summertime and the activity is maybe a little bit low. But this one goes out to you nerds that are hanging on.
I was in a Piere Marcolini shop in Antwerp, and there I bought a Limited Edition mexican porcelana bar. I haven`t heard anyone mention it here at the forum, so I hope this one is new to most of you. I have not tasted it yet, but i am looking foreward to it.

OfflineI have tried it; it is very aromatic and dark moccha, with some fruit tones. It is also verys spicy – too spicy for my taste, the spice kills the rest of the chocolate. The spice is very characteristic, but could anybody tell me the name of the spice? I don’t “get” the name.
I have a bar of cooking Manjari right now which reminds me but the manjari is more fruity and has less spice.

I love fruity chocs, which is why the extremely fruity Chocolate Society 67% is my favourite. Have you tried it?

Funny to see how our taste styles differ. I am on the fruity side, but I have also tried a few good on the more dark mocha side. Marcolinis Fleur de cacao 85% is fantastic. I also found a good mocha-dark one at a local delicatesse store in Oslo (Smør-Petersen at Majorstua for locals); it was a 70% from a local frenc confectioner, Jardin Sucre which had a very good balance between the dark forasteros and the slightly fruiter other beans. All in all, the most “chocolaty” choc I have tasted.

OfflineWell, I don’t mind if a chocolate is fruity or not, as long as the flavors are balanced and as long as I can actually taste chocolate. If the flavors are pungent to the point of distraction, thusly overwhelming the overall chocolate flavor, then that, imo, is indeed a flaw. Some chocolates taste totally of cinnamon, and that to me, is annoying. Although I love cinnamon, I find that these bars are rather dull and don’t have many highlights. The chocolate flavor is definitely present, but I enjoy being challenged by flavor nuances.
