I have not seen any mention of these chocolate bars on this site. I think their ‘Tanzania 75%’ bar is their best, up there with the Valrhona vintage bars, but they have five or six other bars as well as some milk chocolate ones. I also like the thickness of the bar. They are reasonably priced at £1.75 for 45g bar. The shop is on Lower Sloane Street.

I would be interested in seeing a review of the 73% bar in the Maison du Chocolat range. Maison du Chocolat opened a shop in Piccadilly a couple of weeks ago. As expensive as Pierre Marcolini but at least as good, I think. £5.90 for 100g

L’artisan are part of London Chocolate Week, so you should see some coverage of them on the site soon, and I hope to get hold of their bars for review.

Haven’t checked out the new Maison du Chocolat shop yet, but will try and get there soon.

Both L’artisan and Maison du Chocolat source their chocolate from Valrhona – which isn’t to say the bars aren’t worth reviewing and may well be unique to them. The difference with Marcolini is that Marcolini actually make their own chocolate from scratch

Well not just from Valrhona, but from a number of larger fine chocolate producers.

Just been to L’artisan and got samples for London Chocolate Week, so will let you know what I think of the Tanzania soon.

I need to try the Maison du Chocolat bars, but as I understand things they are all made from Valrhona, etc., so you are paying a lot for moulding. I guess if they come with some new blend that might be worthwhile.

Have now done the Tanzania review – I liked it a lot, though it’s not so high up the rankings – it’s getting hard to fit all the good bars in now!

The review is at http://www.seventypercent.com/chocop/bar_detail.asp?ID=119

The Maison du Chocolat milk chocolate bar does not taste like the Valrhona Jivara. I remember tasting them alongside each other a couple of years ago. I had got the Maison du Chocolat bar in Paris.

talking of Valrhona the 2003 vintage bars must be out very soon…

“Both L’artisan and Maison du Chocolat source their chocolate from Valrhona”

I’d be interested in martinc’s view of L’Artisan du Chocolat bars compared to Valrhona brand bars now that a few have been reviewed for the Chocopaedia.

just got my first order from seventypercent! and was just curious about the ingredients of the artisan du chocolat bars, since they are not printed on the package. the same as valrhona i’m guessing?

in the meantime:
the two tonca bean bars i ordered have suddenly disappeared :(
damn they were good! ;)
