I’ve been snacking on Lindt Excellence 70% lately, and I must say that it’s really a good chocolate. It’s hard to believe, though, given the reputation of Lindt’s products, but the Excellence bars are really quite comparable to the higher end brands. This one has flavors orange, vanilla, molasses, and some other fruity tartness lingering in the background. Just as the name implies.

I view this bar as one I eat when I neeeeed choooc NOOOOW, and cant find a really good one. Much better than the harsh vanillin stuffed crap, but still more bitter and not so rich as the better chocs.

BTW, skip the white excellence bar. It smells ladies perfume, plastic and hydrocarbon condensate… [}:)]

Oh, I meant the dark bars, not the while or milk ones. I forgot about those. Has anyone tried the Excellence Origin bars, btw? They come from Madagacscar, Ecuador, and Ghana and are supposed to be huge improvements over their lower cocoa content brothers of years ago.

The Madagaskar bar tastes raisin and liquorice – an not much else. The Ghana bar is quite harsh and has a quite flat taste. Have tried the Equador too, but don’t remember much. These are the kind of bars you like (because they’re better than the usual discount supermarket crap) until you realize that there are better things around.
