Today I noticed this product on chocosphere, and I was quite surprised that I had not noticed it earlier or seen it discussed on seventypercent.

I don’t, but I have seen it in a local shop, so I’d also be interested to hear other people’s thoughts.

They’re also available in the large boxes of pistoles for whatever kind of chef you may be. Or at least they were a couple years ago. I’ve tried Ecuador, Ghana, and Venezuela, in addition to the other origins in ganaches. Since this was several years ago, I hardly remember them, except for that Ecuador and Venezuela were strong and that Ghana was very mild (or was that Ecuador?). Profile-wise I don’t remember, save for a very steady flavor that didn’t offer anything new, wild, or complex to the party (if you want that, go to the 1er Cru de Plantation range). They were standard according to my memory, just different enough to know they were different, if you catch my drift.

The reason we don’t stock these is the nasty yellow food colour Cluizel use to stamp their logo on each disk. I forget the E number, but as I remember it’s actually banned in Germany. This just really seems unnecessary and spoils the product, although there is also perhaps a question mark over unwrapped pieces of chocolate within a single box.
