Hi all,
I'm looking for an upscale or artisanal chocolate from Spain.

I'm a marketer in the US for wine and I want to do a promotion for one of my clients that pairs their port (made under a Spanish family) with dark chocolate.

Any and all suggestions are welcome!

thanks very much,
Mary

Try Chocovic. If you want a small amount, order from http://www.chocosphere.com to get some bars, but since you're located in NY, I would suggest scouring the city for the bars. Vosges' boutique used to carry all the bars, and maybe Dean & Deluca will. I'm sure you'll find them somewhere.

During your search, you might come across Rovira and Blanxart, and if you do, I would suggest picking those up as well.

You could try theese addresses:

Fairway 74th St, and Broadway (Blanxart & Chocovic)

Dean and Deluca 560 Broadway (Blanxart & Enric Rovira)

Garden of Eden 7 East 14th Street, and other Garden of Eden stores (Valor, bars from Spain)

"Porcelana: The Holy Grail of Pure Criollos" (Maricel E. Presilla)

Garden of Eden has a nice selection of bars, but Valor is the only Spanish brand I saw when I was there recently. Dean & Deluca's inventory is very mercurial, and every time I've set foot inside, their stock was different. They did, however, have Blanxart...no Rovira.

Not sure where you are located, but Trader Joe's carries the chocovic bars at a price you can't beat. The chocovic line is nothing extraorinary, but I have always been satsified with the bars I buy and the price is great for a single origin bar.

It has been mentioned on this forum before, but Oriol Balaguer has some bars that have been spotted in NY.
