OfflineHave been making up the structure of the forum as we go along. Would welcome any comments or ideas about how to organise the whole thing, section we need to add, etc.

Offlineone thing i have noticed in my own posting behavior is that i am too lazy. i have now begun to add to already existing threads instead of opening new topics.
as for organizing and structuring… whew! though that is what i do for a living i don’t think i am the best at it and when i come here (to the forum) it is almost like a playground: i just post wildly and often do not give enough pause to think.

OfflineI have one suggestion: Move the ‘Chocolates and truffles’ categories from the main group ‘Reviews’ to ‘General’. Makes more sense to have truffles in same group as ‘Chocolate bars’. Then ‘Reviews’ will consist of comments to seventypercent’s reviews and members’ reviews.

OfflineI have briefly met a couple of people saying it looks great but that it’s a bit difficult to find their ways around. I am also the only crazy crazy I know, well, except you other guys …

Offlineok, any news from outside to put things into perspective.
i have no experience moderating and don’t know what is possible. you have spoken of moving threads. does that include cutting posts from one thread and putting them elsewhere?
i am always a big cleaner-upper and like to throw old junk out. that gets the clutter out, but needs to be done carefully so as not to remove important stuff.
maybe the four of us (moderators) should get together over a beer somewhere sometime

OfflineOK, Martin said something like this:
A topic can be moved to another forum when created.
If it changes mid-stream we can create a new topic if we have the time. (My comment is that this seems to happen quite frequently by today. My suggestion is that we simply use the first post in which the discussion takes a new direction as the first post in a new discussion.)
A forum (topic?) can be locked when the discussion seems to have come to an end. (My comment: Psychologically I find it difficult to lock a topic unless there are weeks since no new posts have been added. On the other hand, I can think of a few topics in which the existing discussion may be useful for further discussion.)

OfflineAlex, as a moderator you have power! And yes, you can delete and edit others posts. That’s the whole point and is in principle quite useful – I mean, if someone is saying something offensive. We can also trace the IP addresses. I don’t know if that is useful, but I can see it may be interesting if someone say they are someone else.
The functions are quite easy to figure out, and it is quite easy to make a mess without being able to undo it …[B)]I did not sleep well after this blunder. Maybe I have not eaten enough chocolate lately.
alex_h says: hmmm, maybe you should have some chocolate then [:D]
this is just a test [;)]

OfflineWell, normally it wouldn’t take much to get me to a social gathering amongst friends, but there’s a little thing called the Atlantic Ocean preventing me from partaking in such an event. I haven’t even tested these new powers yet. My computer has been acting up lately, and I’ve had to do a complete system restoration. What a pain. On top of that, I only had a 5g square of Guanaja today, so if you guys excuse me, I need to have a four course chocolate bar dinner.

OfflineOverdid it, huh? How much did you eat? I have to be careful to not do that anymore because I’ve spent quite a bit of money lately. Besides, I don’t want to kill the whole experience either. I want to keep it “special” heh. But http://www.chocosphere.com just got a shipment of Pralus in, and the new Valrhona vintages are due any day; such temptations make it tough, so I will probably submit [:D]

OfflineYeah, there’s still a lot I need to try too, but I figure that’s it better to take my time for several reasons, one of which is to avoid killing the experience. Also, if you rush and try everything, then there’s nothing new left, and also I suppose that with all the chocolate available, so much would be consumed that it would actually be detrimental to your health (and your wallet). Everything in moderation is a good thing, but excess can lead to worse things. But there’s certainly nothing wrong with splurging every once in a while, now is there? [^]

Offlineso … moderators should step in here and post a note that this thread has become off topic, and could the posters please post here (**** – fill in the forum name). Then maybe the moderators would delete the offending posts or lock the topic.
But the moderators are the offenders! You bad, bad people! [:(!] [:p]
