With so many scandinavians at the forum, may be we should have a special sub-forum with scandinavian languages – you could practice. Norwegian is very easy,I learned it already when I was very young[;)] BTW, we have actually had some german students here, who speak almost fluent Norwegian after four months.

yeah, like i said elsewhere: the vikings are taking over! but no one wants to listen, now do they? [;)]
i heard learning languages is easier as a child. strange. [:)]
maybe i should become a student again and move to the north. would be a change.

You wonder how much Norwegian you can understand? Let me put it like this; I have never learnt any German in school or anything. (Ich habe nicht Deutsch in der Schule gelehrent … or something like that.)

But there is more to Norwegian and Norway than the language. The noodle thing was an internal joke actually. Almost all Norwegian students eat lots of noodles because it’s so cheap. (Like 3 portions for 1.25 €.)

Meeting in Berlin: Well, we had good fun there :-) You actually taught me to like Starbucks – have spent lots of time there when in Berlin since. I am even eating your Pecan nut (or was it Macadamia?) pies – and making good doughnut bargains!!

i think in the states students often live off ramen noodles. you know, the kind you just add water to.
ooh, i miss the pecan pie. no starbucks opening in munich *sigh*

yes, that was fun (and damn cold) in berlin. next time let’s pick a warmer season :-)

Yeah, students here live off of Ramen, and I don’t see how they do because that is foulest of all noodle dishes. In fact, all instant “starch” dishes of that nature are quite horrid and foul, not only because they have an awful flavor and are WAY too salty (have you ever looked at the sodium content?), but they’re perhaps among the most unhealthy foods you could consume. Loaded with sodium, fat, and so many chemically engineered ingredients, you’re damaging yourself with each salty bite.

Starbucks has their own origin chocolates now:

Venezuela 73.5%, Ecuador 66%, Africa 54%, Mexico milk 50%, Venezuela milk 45%, Africa milk 34%

I saw the box in the store the other day but decided not to buy them because I felt that I can get better and more chocolate for the price it demanded.

Hey alex, I heard that the overall German population is declining because the people fail to “replace” themselves. In other words, the men find the women to be too unnattractive to stimulate attraction and eventual intercourse, so as a result, the population is declining. This might explain why Southern Europeans go for those oh-so-beautiful Northern girls, huh? hehe

Ok, just spent my last penny, (or krone), on food. Too bad I don’t like noodles like the rest of my fellow students [;)] So now it’s water and bread for a weak…

If you’re staying in one of the legendary dormitories as well, you’d be better off in a prison ;-)

Btw, the Norwegian student noodles per se are made by a guy called Mr. Lee – allegedly a Chinese immigrant. Funny enough his oldest daughter is the most renowned female chefs in the whole country.

When living on student budget in England I realised that Mr. Lee’s noodles aren’t as bad as some of the other guys in the league since seasoning, oil and stuff are kept in separate bags.

Hehe, luckily I don’t live in a dorm, I live in a house with three others, so we have plenty of space. And (unfortunately perhaps) my hobby is cooking, so I tend to eat too expensive [:o)] But it’s soon christmas, and back to my parents house!

Btw, have any of you other norwegians heard of the book “Sverres sjokolade”? Just saw it in the bookstore, and some of the recipes in there looked mighty tempting!

Sounds like a proper student life. Can’t complain on my behalf either. And don’t we all spend too much on eatable stuff … yaah, I think we do, that’s what brought us here – to spend more!

Just a few words to tell that tomorrow I will leave for a working-christmas-holiday – that is, I go home to mom for the holidays, with my work in a laptop. Unfortunately, mom’s PC is out of order at the moment,so if I’m silent the next two weeks, you know why

Cheers!
