OfflineThe first bar I had of Domori’s Porcelana! My expectations were huge, I had waited for a year to get hold of one! I bought six bars. Two of the three I tried tasted like petrol basically – see my post elsewhere. Oops, I forgot to write to Domori and tell them – I will do as soon as I get the time.

OfflineI trust you didn’t give up, LoneLy, and tried the Porcelana again. It’s one of my favourites, subtle, creamy and classy.
Oddly my worst experience, earlier this year, was with Domiori’s Blend No. 1. Eating it was like trying to clean a fireplace grate with my tongue. I’m just not experienced enough to know if it (they -I bought four) were bad bars, or just beyond my ablity to appreciate.

OfflineI’d like to try this petrol porcelana if you can arrange it, LoneLy, to compare with the bars we have.

OfflineIn the beginning of my choc career, it was all the expensive 70% from obscure manufacturers, which tastes the same harsh mix of foratseros and vanillin. Since I learned to avoid them, my greatest diappointments were Marcolinis because of the insane price, and Amedeis Porcelana. It is a great chocolate, but not better than other superb 70-something-%, and I pay for quality, not for the DNA in the cacao plants.
I tried Marcolinis Porcelana too, and didn’t like it very much, but that was because of the spicyness, which is probably more a question of palate than quality.

OfflineJust ate some more of the porcelana. It seems that it has a hint of a certain vegetable. Don’t remeber the English name (Norwegian: Kålrot), but it is a root vegetable, large round with a peach color. Any take?

There it was, yes, I remember it now.
A strange taste for a chocolate, anyway.

Offlinewell, said it before: porcelana from domori. first bar i had months ago was fine. the next four i bought tasted, as one colleague put it, like potting soil. and i had many people try them, all with similar results. hence no more for me.
puertomar has yet to do that to me, very reliable. seems domori has a bit of trouble with being consistent… maybe?
