So yesterday, after a 2 day vacation, I return to my office to find a large package from..Domori.

Only, I never ordered from Domori as far as I know, though I did look around their site a bit about 2 weeks ago.

But maybe, I think, it’s from seventypercent, since I did order some Domori from them. I open the box.

It’s ALL Domori. Puertofino, Puertomar, Porcelana…and Hot Chili Chocolate. Dark Chocolate Covered Chinotto, and Covered Ginger. Um, I didn’t order this!?!?

I check the invoice. It’s NOT CHEAP. But they have my address (which I do remember typing in) and the mostly-Italian invoice says it was charged to my ‘carta di credito’..(which I didn’t type in, I canceled the basket before the order went through.)

This is bad. Very bad. Frantically I write Martin. “Is this seventypercent? Tell me you screwed up!”

“No, it isn’t us.”

Now I’m panicking. I haven’t a clue how to dial Italy, especially from work. I email customer service. Twice. Don’t hear anything. Who knows what time it is there, for god’s sake!?!? Later in the day, though, my boyfriend says “Someone called your cell and there was too many numbers” (in the display). Italy. But no message.

I look at this huge box despairingly. I leave it in my office. I go home.

This morning: an email from Domori! Something got screwed up somewhere, they got an order form but no one there realized there was no card information. Apparently, it will cost too much to ship back, so I will be allowed to keep it as a sample. A SAMPLE!!!!! ARe they amazing or what?!

Believe it or not I haven’t tried anything yet, though of course I do plan to (except for the Covered Chinotto and Ginger, and the Chile Spiked Hot Chocolate, not quite sure what to do with those, though I suppose I could find a friend to trade with, or use them to patch up a disagreement with a family member!) But I am wildly relieved.

So I felt I really had to give a little (more) good press to Domori. I’m sure their chocolate is wonderful… But their customer service, I have to say, is exemplary.

Wow, was it one of the boxes that they sell on their site? Those are like $100 packages, right? I wonder if a mistake like that could happen twice? : ]

oh and I should add: I have now finally tried the Domori Porcelana. OH. MY. I now COMPLETELY understand why it’s number one. It is one of the best chocolates, or foods for that matter, that I have ever tried.[:D]

I think you point out a key difference between Amedei and Domori. Yes, Domori’s Porcelana is the ultimate number one, but their service is not good. I tried to trade with them and sent an e-mail asking whether I could buy goods from them. They simply answered that no shops offered their products in my region. Strange that they manage to force a box on you whilst leaving me emptyhanded after begging … Amedei, on the other hand, give this very nice personal service and follow up my local shop to make sure their chocolates met people’s high expectations.

Hi
Lucky you!
Don’t be afraid of the chocolates with chinotto or chili… these were appreciated by humans for a long time, and though they are not in vogue among the current populace, rest assured they’ll be good, especially if they come from Domori.

I share LoneLy’s opinion. domori is great when it comes to chocolate. but have not been very helpful in finding a shop that sells their product here in munich. amedei on the other hand was very nice about it. and when i show up at the shop the owner was already informed. like family sort of. that was really cool.

I’ll give them a new try then. No matter how hard I tried to think of their poor service while eating Puertomar, I couldn’t keep myself from thinking what a d*** good bar! Some say it takes more than one shot to become a drug addict, but that certainly doesn’t apply to chocolate …
