So yesterday, after a 2 day vacation, I return to my office to find a large package from..Domori.
Only, I never ordered from Domori as far as I know, though I did look around their site a bit about 2 weeks ago.
But maybe, I think, it’s from seventypercent, since I did order some Domori from them. I open the box.
It’s ALL Domori. Puertofino, Puertomar, Porcelana…and Hot Chili Chocolate. Dark Chocolate Covered Chinotto, and Covered Ginger. Um, I didn’t order this!?!?
I check the invoice. It’s NOT CHEAP. But they have my address (which I do remember typing in) and the mostly-Italian invoice says it was charged to my ‘carta di credito’..(which I didn’t type in, I canceled the basket before the order went through.)
This is bad. Very bad. Frantically I write Martin. “Is this seventypercent? Tell me you screwed up!”
“No, it isn’t us.”
Now I’m panicking. I haven’t a clue how to dial Italy, especially from work. I email customer service. Twice. Don’t hear anything. Who knows what time it is there, for god’s sake!?!? Later in the day, though, my boyfriend says “Someone called your cell and there was too many numbers” (in the display). Italy. But no message.
I look at this huge box despairingly. I leave it in my office. I go home.
This morning: an email from Domori! Something got screwed up somewhere, they got an order form but no one there realized there was no card information. Apparently, it will cost too much to ship back, so I will be allowed to keep it as a sample. A SAMPLE!!!!! ARe they amazing or what?!
Believe it or not I haven’t tried anything yet, though of course I do plan to (except for the Covered Chinotto and Ginger, and the Chile Spiked Hot Chocolate, not quite sure what to do with those, though I suppose I could find a friend to trade with, or use them to patch up a disagreement with a family member!) But I am wildly relieved.
So I felt I really had to give a little (more) good press to Domori. I’m sure their chocolate is wonderful… But their customer service, I have to say, is exemplary.
“Oh, what a noble mind is here o’erthrown…”
