OfflineHello Fellow Chocoholics!
As some of you seasoned veterans may remember, I hope to one day open a chocolate shop. An important step in fulfilling this dream would be to get some pertinent management experience. So, I make this appeal.
Martin? Tom? Anyone?
I am in China now, and will probably be in the UK for the first four months of the next year. I need to learn a lot, about many things, so feel free to email me if you have any ideas.
Regards,
Kyle

Offline… I think this applies to me too …
At least interesting things are happening in UK – from a foreigner’s point of view. To me it seems as if there’s much to learn just from hanging around. Pity you won’t make it to the London Chocolate Week.

OfflineBoth … and as you say, the two goes together, right. I am not that much of a business woman though. In the long run, I’d like to apply some of my academic skills (hopefully accomplished …) to my chocolate interest. A PhD fellowship would have been nice

OfflineHello
New to the forum
We have a chocolate shop in London and produce all our chocolates in London too(not from the beans). If you tell me more specifically what you wish to learn (shop side or production side)I’ll see if we can arrange something. Unpaid though…
Got to go now and make some more chocolates…
choco regards

OfflineHello
Regarding production, I need to learn all of the chocolatiering stuff. I have a bit of experience as a fine dessert decorator, and have done a tiny bit of tempering, but am basically a novice in this area.
Regarding shop skills, I need to learn managerial, accounting, and chocolate-specific skills. I have experience in restaurants and shops, so I feel comfortable with customer-service, cleaning, stocking, shipping and recieving, etc. It’s the managerial and financial-planning experience that I lack.
Hope this clarifies!
best wishes
Kyle

OfflineWith a portion of realism; it will most likely remain a dream only for me. However, I would not mind spending a year or two as an employee/apprentice in the business although there is a risk I won’t be able to leave …
