Has anyone tried Peter’s Chocolate? My website is based on Guittards but when I called to order some of Peter’s caramel loaf the lady on the phone was raving about the chocolate compared to Guittards. This would be a huge switch for me. People don’t search on the interent for Peters as much as they do Guittards! Any ideas?

I have not tasted them for a long time but I think it’s still the same industrial chocolate. It was a NestlĂ© Company and from 2002 on it’s part of Cargill. I think this says most. I don’t believe that they change anything to the good side.

Peter’s chocolate is the only US supplier who makes their milks from crumb they make themselves. Most US suppliers use whole milk powders, and a handful use purchased crumb (there are only a few crumb mfrs in the world). They also have a nice line of darks, including multiple origin items. As with Guittard, their focus customer base is the smaller, artisinal candy maker. Guittard makes a very nice line of products as well. I would recommend you evaluate both, and go with the ones that most meet your needs and that you see value in (however it is you define value – it’s much more than price!). Guittard is also in the business of selling direct to consumer, which is why you see more ‘buzz’ about them – they advertise. Peter’s does not sell direct to consumer.
