Hi there... I am a crazy chocolaholic, so much so, I am thinking of starting an upscale retail store in Ottawa, Canada dedicated to chocolate from around the world made by the world's top manufacturers - a concept very much like a fine wine store.

But I am not sure if there is a large enough market or demand for high end chocolate.
Has anyone seen a such a retail store?
Has anyone actually operated such a business?
and finally to the editors of 70% (love your site btw) - how sucessful has the online shop been for you? (this will give me asense of the demand in the UK that be transferable to Canada).

Looking for any input. Thanks very much.

Hey there,
Yeah I stared a link that is right below yours. http://www.seventypercent.com/.....PIC_ID=913
I am hoping to do the same thing one day if I don't get into actually manufacuring chocolate myself. check out http://www.bittersweetcafe.com
they are a store in san francisco that does that. I think you could even make it higher class than that though but they do do something that know one has ever really done. Tell me more about you and your idea's... are you from canada?

I think that this idea is going to start coming up more in major cities...people are finally, just beginning, to realise that there is high quality chocolate that tastes great out there. I think if this is done you would have to get a whole city into the idea of eating chocolate and cooking with chocolate. So big advertisements and maybe even free cookbook(self made) on cooking and baking with chocolate?
