I am hosting the first of (hopefully many) Wine & Chocolate Festival, in the Hudson Valley New York!! I am a chocolatier/Pastry Chef (who has been a subscriber to this forum for years) with an extreme passion for chocolate and wanting desperately to make a living at it, however, this road has not been an easy one. I have always wanted to create a forum for chocoholics, wineos and a great mixture of kids, and foodies can gather to enjoy the best of the best. So I finally found a resort that is willfully embracing my idea and we (my event planner friend of mine) and myself are in the throws of it! I am so excited and nervous, but it is to help raise money for Make A Wish, so it’s a win-win for everyone! I want to have chocolate demos, wine tastings, pairings, events for the kids, even microbreweries pairing with chocolate!! I am writing this for two reasons, one, I need to get a big name sponsor to help kick this off, I would like a chocolate company that appeals to the professional as well as the homemaker, here in the states there is Guittard, that is the only one I can think of that might have the appeal. Any suggestions, connections, ideas, etc. on other possibilities? Also, I want it to be filled with great food, delicious local wine and of course CHOCOLATE! Any ideas? I have a ton myself but feel I might not want to go overboard the first year, but the creative side of me says the more over the top the better!! I would love your feedback! By the way, the event will be held in October 23-25 2009, so I have only 6 mos to do this! Yikes!
