I’m hoping to get some more comment up on this tomorrow, but the breaking news today is that Cadburys have finally come clean and completely taken over Green and Blacks. It’s looked inevitable for quite awhile, but now it’s finally happened we can all reflect on the consequences, more of which over the weekend.

“Our businesses share a passion for quality products and ethical values so this is a very natural fit,” said Cadbury’s chief executive Todd Stitzer.
I didn’t realize that hydrogenated oils and vanillin were quality ingredients. After all, you need quality ingredients for quality products.

So you think this has been planned out through the course of several years? Well, it would make sense, especially if they were to multiply their product range globally. Such planning is probably necessary, but if you noticed, Green & Black’s annual profit rose, while the other companies’ took a slight dive. I think Cadbury is hoping to increase their overall profitability by incorporating Green & Black’s into their “family.”

G&B’s products have been starting to look like Cadburys for a few years – e.g. the wrapped pralines looking remarkably like Cadburys Roses, in their whole style of presentation.
