I thought I ought to pass the news along that Robert Steinberg who co-founded Scharffen Berger chocolate just passed away. (On Wednesday the 17th). He has long fought cancer and while it looked as if he was going to survive for a few more years, he was overcome with a surprise infection.
His life has brought joy to many and has helped feed (literally) the passion of a generation of chocolate lovers.
My heart goes out to his family, friends, and all who knew him.

I am truly sorry to hear this. He was a very important figure on the American chocolate scene, and someone whom I respected greatly.
