I am on page 122 of Robert Linxe “La Maison du chocolat” and I don’t know what pear eau de vie is. So what is it?

Eau-de-vie: [French] “water of life,” describes any colorless brandy distilled from fermented fruit juice.

I think it is colloquially called a pear-in-bottle. The pear is inside the bottle with the brandy and is actually grown in the bottle (if it is what I’m thinking of).
