The only place – may be i’m missing something, then i’ll feel mad – is 70%! Please anyone correct me, if i’m wrong here. Imaging unfairness of life. Even tried to order from Domori site, but doesn’t work for some reason.

I bought an Icoa bar two days ago. I discovered a chocolate store in Bonn. It is not that new, but I haven’t found it until now. Shame on me! It has a huge range of bars. Lots of Domori, Amedei, Bonnat, El Rey, Blanxart, Cluizel, Valrhona and others. I heard so much about the fantastic Icoa so that I bought a bar immediately.
Today I made a white chocolate tasting. I have only three, which are: Amedei Latte Bianco, Valrhona Ivoire and El Rey Icoa. The El Rey is very intense for a white chocolate. I have the impression that it is really “closer to the bean”. But all in all my favourite stays the Latte Bianco (I can hardly say why). Nevertheless the Icoa is really worth a try!

Alex tell us about your big day. Did you taste chocolate?

marioh, i like amedei’s white best too.

to the tasting: it was a relatively small affair and consisted mainly of domori and zotter bars. i knew all of the domori, but it was nice to go through the cru again.
i didn’t get to do my talk, but was there to answer some questions. all in all a relaxed affair and a good intro to good chocolate for a fair price.

As long as you had fun and enjoyed yourself. It’s always good to participate in such events even if they do not live up to expectations.

i’ve heard munich is now pretty much the chocolate capital of germany. though, of course, other cities have fine shops as well, munich has the most.

here are some of the shops i haven’t mentioned yet and some that are newer:

- delgado chocolate on max-weber-platz is a good place to go for a hot chocolate, great chili cake, a variety of chocolate delights and a chat with jorge delgado :)
- stancics in the prannerstrasse (i think) has got everything from domori, amedei, rovira, tiroler edel and a few other things. the pralines are yummy and not too sweet!
- stolberg schokoladen in the ledererstrasse (close to the hofbräuhaus ;-) mr. stolberg has got amedei, gerbaud, rococo, most, läderach and plenty of other goodies! he’s the only gerbaud and rococo retailer i know of in munich…
- franz, named after its proprietor, kerstin franz, is a shop in the hackenstrasse close to the city center. ms. franz opened just recently and now supplies the city with good taste, domori, amedei and lots of other stuff i can’t remember right now ;)
- another shop opened around the corner from ‘franz’ just yesterday, but i have to check it out first.

there is now so much to choose from in the city it’s hard to know where to go. prices also differ greatly! if anyone is interested in details, please write me an email.

Hi Alex,

I’m in munich next friday. Franz and Stolberg is on my list and I know most of the older shops. Can you say something about the new shop near Franz?

i haven’t posted much news from munich in a while. don’t know whether it really is that interesting for most of you.
but i thought i’d mention that:
- amelie closed a few months back :( and
- avoid dallmayr! they have only recently enlarged their chocolate dept., but the quality on offer is not up to par! i have complained a couple of times, because so many of the bars have bloom (domori and valrhona) but nothing has happened. paying a hefty sum, i don’t feel like retempering everything i buy there ;)

my recommendations when in munich: go to stolberg (very central, close to hofbräuhaus) or quintessenz (not so central, but good selection of domori at the best price in town)
