I belive you will find Valrhona in Trondheim and Michel Cluizel and Amedei in Oslo. You other norwegians can correct me if there is more, but that is what I know of.

To correct legodude: In Oslo you’ll find Rovira, Valrhona (in several shops), Amedei and Cluizel, but Domori will be available in a few months time from the shop providing Amedei. Shipping is expensive, yes, so I recommend you to ask friends to bring from other countries. According to my experience Berlin is a really good place, although there are chocolates mentioned here on this forum you won’t find there.

Here in Tromsø, the shop Sweet Heart has a decent stock of Valrhona and Cluizel, and some whole food shops have G&B and Biona.

In Oslo: Valrhona at Jacobs på Holtet and Gutta på Haugen (St. Hans Haugen), Pronatec and the Helios health food shops and at Gunerius, Cluizel at a small coffee shop at Majorstuen and Amedei at Assaggio de Toscana, Pilestredet.

To correct Polarbear: Valrhona is available in several shops in Oslo, even at some super markets. I have heard of more than 12 shops selling Valrhona. Gutta på Haugen (St. Hanshaugen) will probably sell Amedei soon, and they are the only ones to provide Rovira at the moment. Assaggio di Toscana in Pilestredet are about to import Domori. I pray it will be soon. (I am about to convince them that 100%s are eatable …) Amedei will most likely be available in other shops too.

Health food shops (what is the proper name – anyone?) sell various chocolates with high cocoa percentage – some of them ‘organic’. I have seen Green & Blacks and Pronatec also in several shops along with other not so well known brands. I don’t care much though, since I don’t like the taste at all …

I stopped by “Sjokoladebutikken i Krambugata” (Trondheim) for some Valrhona yesterday, and took the time to ask the girls behind the desk som questions. I had just read an article on the internett where the reporter was trying out five different dark chocolats; freia, nidar, and three others recomended by this particular store.

So I asked what was the difference between Valrhona and these other brands (none of wich i have ever heard of before). They told me that the Valrhona was probably the one with purest taste, since made without anything artificial. In other words none of the other chocolates in the entire store are made this way.
I also asked if they considered taking in any other chocolates in the same quality-range as Valrhona, and they asked me to mention some brands. They hadn’t heard of any of them, and the answer to my question was no.
So much for calling their store Sjokoladebutikken…

Well, I guess ‘chocolate’ is the difficult term here … (For foreigners: Sjokoladebutikken = The Chocolate Shop). Obviously they mainly are aware of brands producing ‘chocolate’ with less than 50% cocoa percentage. You may point that out to them if you are a brave and good girl, green ;-)

Chocolate is cheaper than therapy and you don’t need an appointment.

I most certainly made it clear that i was dissapointed, but since they obviously like artificial chocolate with lots of milk and vanillin, i don’t think they understood what i meant. But i will continue to stop by untill i see someone looking more like a manager, and try to persuade them to get me some chocolate! [;)]

Hi, as far as I know, Nidar’s Bocca chocolate is made with only natural ingredients, including real vanilla. However, the cocoa percentage is only 58.

Which is of the cheap “F” sort, and drowned in vanilla. [}:)]
