Im trying out some shoes moulds and am struggling to get a tidy join. I take the shoes out of the moulds, place the two halves on a hot baking tray to melt them slightly and to acheive a flat surface, then put the two halves together. Is this the easiest method or should I seal the two halves whilst they’re in the moulds? The latter would help to eradicate finger prints which is another problem.

if you wear white gloves you wont get finger prints on you chocolate. try a heat gun or hair dryer for a second or two (keep it moving) over the surface of one half of the shoe then stick to the other half, but dont over melt the chocolate or you will end up with bloom.

Never thought of using a hair dryer. I presume the gloves need to be cotton?
