We’re going to be launching a new ‘featurette’ on the site shortly, which will be short, quick answer questionnaires for famous faces in the chocolate world – writers, producers, chocolatiers, etc.

We’re thinking of questions like ‘What’s your favourite chocolate, other than one of your own?‘, ‘What chocolate are you eating at the moment?‘ or ‘What was the defining moment that led you to discover fine chocolate?‘. The answers will be short and quick and will be presented as a column in The Pod.

While we’re getting the design together, we wanted to throw the idea open to the forum and see if you all had any thoughts or any particular suggestions for questions, and to let us know what would interest you.

So here’s your big chance to influence the content of our magazine section – all contributions are welcome!

Cheers.

Martin

how about: how does your chocolate reflect your personality? what influences you when creating/refining a certain taste? what is your signature? and how do you create this signature taste?
what is your aim? do you consider yourself more the artist, scientist? what inspires you most about cocoa?

You could also ask questions like:

Which chocolate do you think is over-rated and under-rated?
Where do you see the future of chocolate?

Other ideas:
Where do you get your chocolate from? Local shops, internet, travels?
How do you consume chocolate? Eating as it is, cooking?
Is the design of the wrapping important to you?
Do you share your interest of chocolate with anyone?

“Man cannot live by chocolate alone – but woman can.” (Unknown)

Another question could be:

Why does your packaging look better than the taste of your chocolate? [:p]

How much chocolate would you consider to be “excessive” or “too much?”

What’s the most amount of chocolate you’ve ever consumed in one day and at one sitting?

What do you consider to be biggest innovations in chocolate, past and present?

What aspect of chocolate or which of its many applications do you believe have yet to be untapped or unheard of?

How do you think the attitude towards chocolate differs between connoisseurs and the general public? What can be done to change this and bring chocolate into the wider mainstream, just as coffee and bagels have been?

What do you think the future of chocolate looks like?

I would be especially interested on your thoughts regarding these 8-)

As to chocolate consumption, the highest percapita consumption country in the world is switzerland, with ~22lbs/year/person. The US lags at ~11 lbs/year/person. I tracked my consumption for 1 week, extrapolated out for the year – I’m at about 56 lbs/year 8-) yeah, but i’ll die happy…

But I’m willing to be you’re a consumer 8-) and as such, you’ve got valuable insights as to what you want and what you like. And what you don’t…

Wow, I totally forgot about this thread. 56lbs/year? Have you continued the same rate of consumption? I’ve only eaten a little more than three pounds in the past two months. Maybe we should all answer our own questions. I have to think about them first, though. In the meantime, I’d like to hear your answers too [:)]
