William Curley’s new flagship store opens in London’s Pimlico Green. More than just a chocolatier shop, this is a spacious chocolate emporium that raises the bar for London chocolate shops and gives London even more of a claim to be a world class chocolate destination.

Swiss giant Barry Callebaut, the choco-saurus of the chocolate world, has swallowed up Spanish fine chocolate maker Chocovic for an undisclosed sum. Pending European competition rulings, the deal should be complete by the end of the year.

The presentation ceremony of the 2009 Academy of Chocolate awards takes place this Tuesday 2nd of June, and everyone is in town to collect their medals or just catch up with long unseen friends in the fine chocolate world.

I’ll be churning out a hastily written diary of the night and the surrounding week, if I’m still in one piece after all that award-winning chocolate.

New ICCO website

The ICCO, the International Cocoa Organization – trade body for cacao growers, have a new website. Much more up to date and modern, and looks easier to use.
The site so far has actually less images than the old site, but hopefully these will come along in the near future. View the new version at www.icco.org.
